Policy

issued a number of waste management licences (WML) for facilities subject
to the Landfill Directive, PIE has now been commissioned to develop a

CDM
Projects in Mexico
(March
2005)
After
touring pig and cattle facilities in Mexico in December 2004, PIE is now
advising on projects which have the potential to generate electricity
and energy from biogas and mitigate methane emissions. In a joint project
with EcoMethane (part of EcoSecurities) and Poch Ambiental funded by the
UK FCO, the team are reviewing the potential for developing projects which
can benefit from Certificates of Emission Reduction (CERs) under the Clean
Development Mechanism (CDM). This work follows a commission to review methane
assessment methodologies for CDM projects.

Latest
news on PIE IPPC Applications
(February 2005)
The
Environment Agency has had difficulty in addressing a number of IPPC
applications and have resorted to technical appraisals by consultants.
This is understood to have resulted in delays of two months or more
for many candidates. In a clumsily written letter the EA requests an
extension which, if not granted by the applicant will result in withholding
the Licence. If your application was submitted by PIE and you are unsure
if this affects you please contact us.
